This issue of The Eyes is built around the theme of "crossings", those that hinder and that which connect, this edition brings together a dozen portfolios and shows.

This November Europe celebrated the thirtieth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, a symbol of hope, a sign of a new freedom and the object of all omens. Yet today, the walls that divide are more and more numerous. In 1989, there were eleven walls of separation in the world; today there are sixty-five and more than a dozen have emerged since 2010.

There are 26,000 kilometres of new international borders created since 1991 and these ideological walls now cover 40,000 kilometres.
From the beginning of the history of photography, with the photographers-explorers, it is necessary to demonstrate that the geographical and national limits are always placed further. Inevitably, these lines of separation fascinate photographers: borders are material and emblematic designs that question photographers about their ability to describe, tell and deconstruct physical, legal and dogmatic separations.
