Evidence: 1944-1994 provides clues to the life and work of Richard Avedon comma with more than 600 photographs, including previously unpublished material from Avedon’s personal archives.
Formal portraits, fashion sittings, reportage, magazine covers, preparatory Skechers, contact sheets, snapshots, photographs of the artist and his colleagues: evidence of fifty years of work by the most celebrated photographer of the age.
The book accompanied a major Avedon retrospective at Whitney Museum of American art, documenting life and career that is at once contradictory and cohesive. Jane Livingston, the curator of the exhibition, offers a critical view of the work, from the early images of the theatre people to the remarkable photographs of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Condition: Very good, some signs of reading.
