Rinko Kawauchi: At the edge of the everyday world accompanies Kawauchi’s major solo exhibition at Arnolfini's, Bristol, celebrating over twenty years of extraordinary practice, from the internationally acclaimed Japanese photographer, who’s poetic images find beauty in the ordinary moments of everyday life.
Focusing upon Kawauchi’s intimate practice, the publication reveals the small, personal movements within our lives that go on to create larger, universal journeys, showcasing Kawauchi’s extensive career. Featuring an interview with the artist and essays from Lesley A. Martin, executive director of Printed Matter and longtime collaborator, exploring Kawauchi’s photobooks, and Marc Feustel, curator and writer specialising in Japanese photography who looks at the four exhibited series M/E, Aila, Ametsuchi and Illuminance in closer detail, the publication also includes over 40 colour images.
Two alternate covers sent at random.
