The quarterly magazine of New York-based photography foundation of the same name, Aperture is the flagship representation of their commitment to contemporary photography.

Now in a recently refreshed, smaller format—a good size for the hand and the bag—this issue is guest edited by New York photographer and artist Deana Lawson, who has curated a costellation of images that operate like texts and texts that operate like pictures—fragmented, arrhythmic, mythic.

The result is 82 pages of uninterrupted and uncaptioned work from the likes of Liz Johnson Artur, Seiichi Furuya, Lucy Raven, Boris Mikhailov, Paul Kooiker, Sally Mann, LaToya Ruby Frazier and more, the images punctuated by the occasional text.

Aperture is a not-for-profit foundation, connecting the photo community and its audiences with the most inspiring work, the sharpest ideas, and with each other—in print, in person, and online.
