Pop Song by Kyler Garrison
Village & Screw are pleased to announce a collaborative exhibition in our Manchester gallery space.
Pop Song by New York based artist Kyler Garrison is a series of paintings which explore the feeling of a vague memory, contextualised in a mess of gradients and Lines that stretch thin. The visual experience feels like an abstracted recollection or a forgotten melody that becomes distorted with time.
Each piece draws inspiration from past or resent everyday observations, as well as nostalgic pop culture influences paired with sharp knots of lines that act as a barrier of recognition. Garrison uses an airbrush to build up the layers of blurred acrylic, intending for detail to get lost in translation.
To coincide with the exhibition we have published a zine of the same name which will be available on throughout the course of the exhibition.
Join us for the opening, 6-9pm on May 13th at 131 Oldham Street M4 1LN.
