Hull Fair is one of the oldest fairs in the world, its been running for over 700 years. Taking place every October just off Walton Street, it stretches 16 acres and includes over 250 rides and attractions making it the biggest travelling fun fair in Europe. It’s the one place where all the roaming fair ground rides in the UK meet up all at once.

The art work from the fair is frequently overlooked. However it portrays a reflection of cultural shifts over the last 700 years, the art changes in response to the desires of the masses. It’s outside of the conforms of traditional fine art with the both experiential and commercial purposes. The methods used have evolved from traditional hand written signs to air brush work and now vinyl wrap. The artist themselves receive almost no acknowledgement and for the most part are completely unknown even to the showmen who commission it. Its a world of mystery and fine craft right in front of your nose but never noticed.
