This stunning book explores the symbiotic relationship between contemporary portrait photography and fashion. The book presents the intensely unconventional, often unnervingly intimate portraiture being made by five of the most creative and original fashion photographers at work in the world today.

Each photographer is represented by a range of portraits, some of the images produced as ads, others commissioned for editorial features. The subjects range from the famous: Kate Moss by Corinne Day, Madonna by Steven Klein and by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, Sting by Paolo Roversi to the anonymous Woman I by Mario Sorrenti.

The essays by Susan Bright and Vince Aletti offer a historical context to reflect society's fascination with images of the famous, how these photographers' works have developed from the legacy left by Cecil Beaton, Irving Penn, Richard Avedon and others. The texts also focus on the collaborative nature of these new approaches to portraiture.
