Made across several cities with a compact CCD camera, Exception Holiday follows a group of friends on the verge of graduation. Adult life is somewhere ahead. For now, there is time to drift, to be together, to see what happens. The photographs hold something of that freedom, and the uncertainty that comes with it.
Xueling Chen is a visual artist and photographer working between Europe and China. She began in independent fashion photography in Shanghai before completing an MA in Fashion Image at Central Saint Martins. Her work explores friendship, identity and the feeling of belonging to a place. She recently won the inaugural Pull&Bear Fashion Photography Prize at the Hyères Festival.
