Are they a tool used to distinguish one’s property? An indulgent display of wealth? Are they a manifestation of a society ruled by appearance? Or the perfect way to express the owner’s personality without speaking a single word?

‘NUMB3R PL4T3S’ explores the spectacle of the private registration plate through 48 images taken on the highways of the United Kingdom. This collection of pictures posits plates of all kind. There are those which are sassy, those which are daft, those which are macho and many which are just downright wild.
Whilst the nature of the plates is broad, recurring themes appear, pointing to a particular personality or purpose towards which they seem to exist for. However, there is something ubiquitously charming in how they a mirror a society which is just as silly as it is solemn.
As you flick through the pages you’ll be challenged not to giggle and not to gasp. And you never know, upon completion you might have just landed a new hobby of spotting them yourself...
