Issue 4 of The Lemming reflects our continued commitment to covering political matters, certainly those of a nature that we feel have been overlooked elsewhere in the media.

Joseph Conway’s Lemming cover article examines the proposed reforms to the Official Secrets Act, in no way dispelling the fear that the Government is taking a Catherine wheel to our civil liberties.

In Squatting the Subaltern, hegemonic intent to suppress those living in a “space of difference” is illuminated by Beth Jones.

Elsewhere in the magazine, the suburb, America’s social hinterland, is explored via cinema by Lydia Rostant in Sex, Subversion and Suspicious Parents.
