In 1971, having studied photography at the Institute of Design in Chicago, alongside Aaron Siskind, Arthur Siegel and Garry Winogrand, Charles Traub founded the Chicago Centre for Contemporary Photography, which became the Museum of Contemporary Photography (MOCP). After moving to New York, he began teaching at the School of Visual Arts, setting up the MFA Photography, Video and Related Media Department, of which he is chair. His work is held in many major gallery and museum collections worldwide.
