These photographs depict various places in the American West and were taken over a hundred-year period, from the 1870s through the 1970s. The photographers presented here range from the completely unknown to some of America’s most distinguished practitioners of the medium.
Bryan Schutmaat is an American photographer whose work has been widely exhibited and published in the USA and abroad. His first monograph, Grays the Mountain Sends, was published by Silas Finch in 2013 to international critical acclaim.
Ashlyn Davis is Executive Director & Curator at the Houston Center for Photography, and the editor of SPOT, a bi-annual magazine about photography.
