Brownbook this year celebrates 16 years of publishing.

On its return, The independent magazine from Dubai will be returning to newsstands starting in March—just in time for Art Dubai 2023.

Founded by urbanist and researchers Rashid and Ahmed Bin Shabib, Brownbook became the essential guide to the contemporary Middle East and North Africa, focusing on the region’s people, architecture and cities.

Now, Issue Sixty-Nine is ready to transport readers to Tokyo! The issue marks a new direction for Brownbook, with each new issue exploring the Middle Eastern connections and identities to a different city around the world.

In this latest issue, we meet the artists, architects and designers who’ve made the Japanese capital their new home. Plus, we pay a visit to the artist snd architecture influenced by the region, celebrate Ramadan in Tokyo, and explore into Zaha Hadid’s archive, and much more.
