A COVID-19 Update from Village

A COVID-19 Update from Village

To all our customers.

First of all, we hope you are doing well right now. We know you have been receiving a lot of updates like this from other companies, and we were really reticent to write one ourselves, but these are truly unprecedented times. With the latest government announcements in response to the COVID-19 virus having a huge impact on small businesses, and many of our friends already making the difficult decision to close, we feel it's important that we give you an update on the situation as it currently stands here at Village.

For the time being, we are still open as normal. We are the smallest of small businesses, which means we have no staff who rely on us for their sole source of income. Joe and myself run the shop between us 7 days a week, with occasional help from casual staff and friends. It really is a labour of love and our city centre location means that the vast majority of our revenue each month is spent on rent and bills. The drop in footfall in the past few weeks has already had a huge impact on us, but customers are still coming through the door offering their support. We are closely monitoring the situation and if the government advice changes we will update you, but for now we are keeping the doors open.

We are also still collecting donations for Leeds North & West Food Bank. Thanks so much to everyone who has donated so far, please keep them coming if you can.

Our customers are our top priority and we massively appreciate the support you show us. We always keep a clean shop, but we are taking extra precautions to ensure that our space is safe and hygienic at all times. That being said, we don't want customers taking any unnecessary risks in coming to see us. Therefore, if you are self-isolating right now, you can order something to read from our web-store. We can't afford to offer free shipping unfortunately, however we have dropped our free shipping minimum to £20. We can also offer to drop off orders within Central and North/West Leeds free of charge. If you'd like us to deliver your order just select Click & Collect at checkout and drop us an email after placing your order.

If you are unable to visit us for a while and would still like to support us, we suggest purchasing a Gift Card, which you can spend on your next visit. Our gift cards have no expiry date and can be used both in store and online. We've also made smaller denominations available for those that need them.

Thanks for reading. We will keep you updated as things develop. For now – stay safe, take care of each other, and we'll see you on the other side.
